U-23s: Arsenal 3-0 Leicester - How it happened

Bukayo Saka

WHAT HAPPENED

Bukayo Saka delivered a flawless performance in our final Premier League 2 outing of the season, as we defeated Leicester City 3-0 at Emirates Stadium.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed an impressive season under Freddie Ljungberg’s guidance - and he was at his very best on Friday night, scoring and assisting twice in the opening 10 minutes.

With less than three minutes on the clock, Saka stormed into the box and forced a foul from Viktor Johansson, allowing Charlie Gilmour to open the scoring from the spot.

Almost instantly after, Saka raced down the left and cut the ball back to Tyreece John-Jules for a simple finish, before the latter played Saka through on goal for our third of the evening.

The teenage winger found the bottom right corner with great composure, taking his goalscoring tally to 12 for the season across all competitions.

John-Jules then went on to try his luck with an audacious overhead kick, only to be denied by a fine diving save.

We had a number of opportunities to increase our advantage in the second half, with Xavier Amaechi and John-Jules coming close, but we were unable to fire a fourth past Johansson.
