Trek across Jordan

Be part of a once in a lifetime opportunity fundraising for The Arsenal Foundation alongside Per Mertesacker and David Seaman trekking through the Jordan desert.

In partnership with Just Challenge, The Arsenal Foundation ‘Challenge Jordan 2020’ brings together 100 supporters from around the world to trek through the spectacular desert of Jordan with two Arsenal Legends to raise money for The Arsenal Foundation.

The spectacular, yet challenging trek across the landscape of Jordan begins on Monday, March 23, 2020 and ends on Saturday, March 28. The trek is accompanied by Bedouin guides who will take participants through mountain and desert terrain using ancient trails and camping each night under the stars. Arsenal has always understood the power football has to inspire young people and in partnership with Save the Children, The Arsenal Foundation has co-developed a ground-breaking ‘Coaching for Life’ programme which utilises football to improve the mental wellbeing of children affected by conflict and violence. The programme is underway in the Za’atari Refugee Camp in Jordan and in the slum communities of Jakarta, Indonesia. The trek will raise vital funds to support the project.

Per Mertesacker

Former Arsenal captain and Academy Manager, Per Mertesacker who visited Za’atari Refugee Camp in 2018 said: “I’ve been privileged to meet some of the children who benefit from this ground-breaking project and I’ll be thinking of them as I train for this challenge and trek across the desert in solidarity with fellow Arsenal fans.

"I can’t wait to meet new people and supporters from across the world on this trek and raise money for this project together.”

Arsenal’s legendary goalkeeper, David Seaman MBE added: “My wife Frankie and I are delighted to challenge ourselves and take part in this trek across Jordan.

"With 100 Arsenal fans alongside us, we’ll all motivate and inspire each other along the way to raise money for The Arsenal Foundation to help some of the world’s most vulnerable children, building skills for life through football coaching.”
