Jurrien Timber was left to rue a thoroughly frustrating night in Milan, as we fell to a narrow defeat against the Italian champions.
Inter Milan scored with their only shot on target, a penalty in first-half stoppage time, and we were unable to find the breakthrough after that, despite dominating possession.
Afterwards, Timber reflected on our first defeat in Europe this season.
“It’s very tough,” he said. “Very frustrating for us. I think we played a good game, we dominated a lot but we didn’t score. In the Champions League, you have to score if you want to win. It’s a tough away game and small moments can decide a game.”
We had 20 attempts on goal throughout the 90 minutes, and almost twice as much possession as Inter, but we could not become the first team to score against them in the Champions League this season. Now Timber is looking ahead to our Premier League clash away to Chelsea on Sunday.
“At the end, we felt confident, we had a couple of tough matches. On Sunday will be tough again but I believe in our squad, we have a lot of quality, just need a little bit of luck in scoring more goals. Like I said, I have a lot of trust in our team and we’ll be fine for sure.”
