Six academy stars get England call-ups

Amario Cozier-Duberry celebrates scoring against Millwall

Six members of our academy have been called up by England at various age levels during the current international break, with four involved in crunch qualifying matches,

Reuell Walters and Amario Cozier-Duberry are hoping to play their part in helping the under-19s reach this summer’s European Under-19 Championships, as the Young Lions take on Hungary, Iceland and Turkey over the coming week.

Those matches will take place on home soil in a round-robin format, with the group winners booking a spot in the finals in Malta next summer.

Walters and Cozier-Duberry will hope to be involved in Walsall on Wednesday for the match against Hungary, with the subsequent games against Iceland and Turkey to take place in Rotherham and Chesterfield.

With a successful campaign, England are looking to retain the title which they lifted last summer in Slovakia, when Brooke Norton-Cuffy was part of the winning squad.

Meanwhile, at under-17 level Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly have been selected for England’s upcoming European Under-17 Championship elite round qualifiers.

Managed by former Gunner Ryan Garry, the duo will be aiming to help the Young Lions reach the finals in Hungary in the summer by advancing from a group including Denmark, Northern Ireland and the Netherlands - where the games will take place.

England kick off against the Danes in Katwijk on Wednesday, before facing Northern Ireland in Noordwijk three days later. They then round off the group stage back in Katwijk against the Dutch on Tuesday, March 28, hoping to secure a spot in the finals by topping the table, or finishing as one of the seven-best runners-up.

Away from competitive action, Lino Sousa has been selected for England’s under-18 trip to Croatia, where they will play three friendly matches.

Sousa’s team start with a game against Croatia on Wednesday, and two days later take on Belgium before rounding off their stay with a match against Switzerland.

Meanwhile, on-loan Norton-Cuffy’s displays for Coventry City have earned him a selection for the England under-20 squad, who take on Germany in Manchester before heading to Marbella in Spain for matches against the USA and France ahead of this summer's under-20s World Cup.
