Sister Club of the Month: June

Every month we feature one of our Sister Clubs. This month it's the turn of Bedwell Rangers.

Bedwell Rangers are based in Stevenage and when it was formed in 1959 it was the first youth club in the town.

The club was one of the first to achieve FA Charter Standard status when it was introduced in 2001 and was named Herts FA Charter Standard Development Club of the Year for three years in a row between 2012 and 2014.

Bedwell Rangers is very proud of the work it does in the community to provide opportunities to play football for all, including going into schools to provide coaching and after schools clubs and the club has a large inclusive section that provides football for boys and girls aged 7-17 with disabilities.

For this work in the local community Bedwell Rangers achieved full registered charity status in 2009.

There are 550 children registered with the club spread over more than 40 teams. Of these 180 are girls playing in 16 teams. This is all made possible by the hard work of 140 volunteers including nine trustees who run the club. Bedwell Rangers also gives opportunities and recognition to many of its older players to become junior coaches within the club.

The philosophy of Bedwell Rangers is to provide coaching to children of all ages and abilities regardless of gender, physical ability, race, social background or financial standing in a safe and friendly environment while also teaching life skills and respect for all.

Though winning is the aim, this is never the only objective and all outcomes are embraced with positive support for the players.

Anyone interested in playing or coaching at Bedwell Rangers can contact the club via the website or by calling Neil on 07985 338356.
