‘She can be one of the best in the world’

Jordan Nobbs

Jordan Nobbs was once again at her influential best during Saturday’s win over Manchester City.

The England midfielder was at the heart of our attacks at Meadow Park and even set up Danielle van de Donk’s equaliser as we came from behind to beat Nick Cushing’s side.

Joe Montemurro was also impressed with Nobbs’ performance against City and singled her out for praise after the match. This is what he had to say:

on Jordan Nobbs…

We all know Jordan’s a special player and she has the opportunity to be one of the best midfielders in the world. Whether it’s playing deeper or attacking higher, she’s such a smart player. I’ve got to calm her down every once in a while because she wants to be involved all the time, and we’ve been able to do that by creating space for other players. It makes her more efficient and effective. She’s just growing as a player and she can be one of the best midfielders in the world.

on the win…

It’s an amazing occasion for Arsenal. Alex Scott was the focus today, so for us to play a good brand of football especially in the second half just showcases where we’ve come from and where we’re at now. It all looks good going forward.

on what he said at half-time…

The interesting thing is that I walked into the changing room at half-time and I didn’t really feel uncomfortable with our performance, I felt we had enough to get out of it. It was just about having that belief in ourselves to keep on playing our way and keep playing our scenarios. Yes there were a couple of hairy scenarios in how we played out from the back, but we got comfortable and the second half showed for itself.

on Manchester City’s mistakes…

I’d like to think that we played some good football to cut them open. Manchester City are a good side and you have these little slips in your lead up to games. You can’t rest for a second because they’re always going to be at you.
