Saka – ‘It was a lot of fun!’

Bukayo Saka was at the heart of everything as we ripped into West Ham on Saturday, laying on two assists, winning a penalty and getting on the scoresheet himself in a remarkable first-half display.

He is the first player in any of Europe’s big five leagues to reach double figures for assists this season, and now has 18 goal contributions in all competitions in 2024/25.

Speaking after the game, Saka said he sets himself goal and assist targets each season, that he keeps secret, and now he’s just looking to improve on the numbers he’s put up already this year.

“I’m happy so far but you know, I have to keep going,” he said. “I can’t get complacent. It’s a long season and we’re only in November so, I need to continue like this.”

The 5-2 win at the London Stadium made it three wins in a row this week, with ten goals scored in back-to-back away wins after our big Champions League victory in Lisbon on Tuesday.

“It was a lot of fun, [we scored] a lot of goals and, yeah, we enjoyed it.

“We’ve been playing like that the last few games, scoring a lot of goals. We’re in good form, good confidence and we’re enjoying our football.”

“We’ve built a lot of momentum now, we’ve played really well the last three games, not just the results were good but also the way we played so we’re happy, we’re confident and we’re going to take it into the next game which, we know is a big one.

“We’re feeling good, we’re feeling ready for it, confident, so, let’s go!”
