Hector Bellerin and Kieran Tierney are set to make their first appearances of the season when our under-23s travel to Wolves on Friday.
Both full-backs have been sidelined through injury and will use this chance to gain match fitness before being integrated back into the first team.
THE STORY SO FAR
Steve Bould’s side have started the season in impressive fashion, winning three and drawing two of their first five games.
An opening-day victory over Blackburn Rovers was followed by an Emile Smith-Rowe winner in a 2-1 victory against Brighton & Hove Albion. Back-to-back draws against Derby County and Everton followed to continue our unbeaten start.
We were back to winning ways last week, overcoming a one-goal deficit to beat Leicester City at Emirates Stadium. The visitors took the lead 10 minutes before half-time when Ali Reghba found space behind our backline and fired a low shot past Karl Hein.
Seconds after the restart, Tyreece John-Jules scored an impressive volley to draw us level before claiming his third of the season minutes later to give us the lead. A solid defensive display followed as we held on for victory.
We currently sit second in the table behind Chelsea on goal difference.
THE OPPOSITION
Wolves have made an inconsistent start to the season and are looking for consecutive wins for the first time in 2019/20 after beating Manchester City last week.
They opened their campaign with a defeat to Brighton and a draw with Everton, but recorded their first victory a week later, beating Blackburn Rovers 2-1.
A 2-0 defeat to Leicester followed but they bounced back, beating Man City 2-1 thanks to goals from Bruno Jordan and Meritan Shabani.
Wolves were crowned champions of the second division in 2018/19, pipping Southampton to the title on goal difference.
ONE TO WATCH
Kieran Tierney is in line to make his first appearance in Arsenal colours since his move from Celtic in the summer.
The Scotland international’a debut was delayed due to a groin injury sustained before joining the club.
The 22 year-old left-back is known as a rock-solid defender while also offering a real threat going forward, and made 43 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring once and registering four assists.
He was integral part of a Celtic defence that kept over 30 clean sheets last season.
