We're back in Adobe Women's FA Cup action as we take on London City Lionesses in the fifth round.

Our Gunners are looking to return to winning ways after a late defeat against Manchester City in the Subway Women’s League Cup semi-finals on Thursday. Should we beat London City Lionesses, we'll book a place in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

IN THE LAST ROUND

Our Gunners secured their place in the fifth round with a 5-0 win over Bristol City. Stina Blackstenius set the tone by scoring within the first three minutes, and by the half-hour mark, we were 4-0 up, thanks to goals from Frida Maanum, Beth Mead and Blacktenius completing a brace.

Ten minutes after the break, our number nine added a second to her tally, sealing a convincing progression to the next round.

OUR OPPOSITION

LCL

London City Lionesses had to defeat Cardiff City Women and Fulham Women in the third and fourth rounds of the competition before making the journey to Meadow Park.

The Lionesses are yet to concede in the competition and have scored nine goals so far, with Chantelle Boye-Hookah bagging a hat-trick in the last round.

Our opposition currently sit second in the Women's Championship, only losing three times this season at present.

We faced London City this time last year in the League Cup, running out 4-0 victors on the night. Cloe Lacasse, Alessia Russo and Kim Little were all on target in the competition's quarter-final.

WHAT THE MANAGER SAY

Renee Slegers

Renee Slegers on the game: “I'm expecting them to come out [and give us a game]. I can't tell what their plan is. If they're just going to play the game and do what they always do, or if they adjust against us - we'll see what they do, but they're definitely going to give us a game”.

Slegers confirmed after our Manchester City fixture that the squad will be monitored before assessing availability for Sunday.
