Odegaard reveals dressing room frustration

Martin Odegaard says our dressing room was one of frustration after our 3-1 defeat at Old Trafford, as the team felt the game was there for the taking.

Five minutes after Bukayo Saka pulled us level on the hour-mark, a quick counter-attack from the hosts saw Marcus Rashford deliver a hammer blow in a game where we had the majority of control.

The skipper believes that proved to be a huge momentum shifter that ultimately cost us the chance to continue our unbeaten run.

“Everyone is super disappointed, we always play to win, we wanted to come here and get a result," said Odegaard. "I feel like everyone feels like we should’ve got something out of the game. The game was there for us to take something, we’re all disappointed, the mood is a bit down but that’s how it is.”

"The first and the second goal, we had the momentum of the game, we let them score two easy goals. It’s frustrating and annoying but yeah as I said we should’ve got something out of the game.”

The unbeaten run ending after five back-to-back victories still leaves the team top of the Premier League table, with plenty of positives.

“Yeah, of course, we have to look to the next one, we’re still on top of the league. We have to look for the next one, win that one, that’s all.” Odegaard added “There were a lot of good moments in the game as well, so we have to take those and learn from the bad ones as well. Then look for the next game.”

The Norwegian went on record to thank the travelling fans for their excellent support throughout the campaign so far, especially after their backing and positivity at the final whistle.

“They’ve been brilliant this season, I’ve said many times," Odegaard said. "We’re really grateful for the support again here at Old Trafford, the support was amazing again. So we have to say thank you and hopefully next time we’ll give them the three points.”
