Odegaard and Saka up for PL Player of the Season

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka celebrate scoring against Sevilla

Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka have been nominated for the Premier League’s Player of the Season accolade, with supporters’ votes having in say in who wins.

The pair have been standout performers for us during the past 10 months, driving us forward to gain Champions League qualification and push for the title during an incredible campaign for the club.

Individually they have also shone. In his first season as captain, Martin has led from the front by getting on the scoresheet 15 times, and no other midfielder in the division can match that tally. He also has seven assists, and was named the Premier League’s Player of the Month for November/December.

Bukayo picked up the same award in March, which was just one highlight of another fine campaign for our Hale End graduate. He is the only player in the league to have hit double figures for goals and assists, finding the net 13 times while laying on 11 assists for his teammates.

The pair recently came second and third in the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year, while Bukayo was named Young Player of the Year and Martin Player of the Year at the Football London Awards back in March.

For the Premier League's prize, they are included on a seven-player shortlist which also contains Manchester City goal machine Erling Haaland and his teammate Kevin De Bruyne, Kieran Trippier of Newcastle United, plus England strikers Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford.

Bukayo and Martin meanwhile have also been nominated for the Premier League's Young Player of the Season award alongside Gabriel Martinelli, while Mikel Arteta is up for Manager of the Season.

Voting is currently open and will run until midday UK time on Monday, May 22, with those votes being added to a panel of experts’ selections to determine the winner.
