Nwaneri and Dowman among the goals for England

Dowman v Germany

It was a fruitful international break for youngsters Ethan Nwaneri and Max Dowman, who both got on the scoresheet for England’s youth teams in September.

Ethan scored England Under-19s’ first goal in a 2-2 friendly draw with Italy as well as an equaliser in a 3-2 defeat against Germany. He also came on in the 68th minute of a 1-1 draw with Croatia.

Myles Lewis-Skelly, Ayden Heaven and Tommy Setford were also involved for the Young Lions.

Against Germany, Ethan almost scored an incredible goal after showing excellent footwork to shift the ball onto his left foot and aim for the top left corner, but the goalkeeper tipped it over the bar.

As for England’s Under-17s, they beat Mexico 5-0 in the Pinatar International Tournament, with 14-year-old Max chipping a penalty kick down the middle on his debut.

Alongside Max, Theo Julienne was used to help keep a clean sheet in a 0-0 draw with Israel, while Jack Porter came into the fray for a 3-1 win over Germany.

We also had a couple of young Gunners representing Wales this month, with Brayden Clarke playing 78 minutes off their under-18s’ 0-0 draw away to Czech Republic in the Jezek Cup.

He then wore the captain’s armband for a 3-2 win over Slovakia, before coming on at half-time in a 2-1 loss at home to Turkey.

For Wales Under-19s, Will Sweet started Saturday’s friendly against Turkmenistan, which they drew 2-2, and started on the bench for Monday’s friendly against Azerbaijan, which they won 3-0.
