We are delighted to announce that Switzerland international Noelle Maritz has joined us from VfL Wolfsburg.
The 24-year-old defender started her career at FC Zürich before signing for VfL Wolfsburg in 2013. Noelle has been a regular for the Fraun Bundesliga side since her arrival, achieving over 150 appearances for the club and scoring nine goals.
Noelle has won 14 major honours in her career, including the UEFA Women’s Champions League back in 2014.
Noelle leaves VfL Wolfsburg having just won the Fraun Bundesliga title and the DFB Pokal for her fifth and sixth time respectively.
A regular for the Switzerland national team, Noelle has made 74 international appearances to date and will be joining international teammates Lia Wälti and Malin Gut in north London.
“We’re ecstatic to have a player of Noelle’s calibre at the club,” Joe Montemurro told Arsenal.com. “She’s been on our radar for the last six months because she’s very proactive going forward, but again, she’s another player that’s played in Champions League finals and big games. She really suits the kind of player that we want at this club.”
“I’m really excited and so happy that I can play for such a huge club,” said Maritz. “I honestly can’t wait to just get started now and meet all of my new teammates. This is a whole new challenge for me and I feel like it’s a great step in my career and development.”
The deal is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.
