Nobbs - How the boss has instilled belief

Jordan Nobbs

Wednesday’s FA WSL Continental Cup final win was a real team effort, but Jordan Nobbs was still keen to praise Joe Montemurro’s hard work behind the scenes after the game.

The clean sheet against Manchester City at Adams Park was our seventh in a row, and resulted in our manager’s first piece of silverware since he arrived at the end of 2017.

It means we have still only lost once since Montemurro took over, and Nobbs paid tribute to the manager after the game.

“We just got back to organisation, passing the ball and being confident on the ball," she said. "We were tremendous in the first half and we hung on when Manchester City threw everything at us after the break. I’m just so proud of the girls today.

“The last few weeks, we’ve just been on an uphill climb which has just been phenomenal since Joe came in and I’m so proud of the girls today. It’s a great feeling to bring silverware back to the club.

“The celebrations show just how much it means to get that feeling again. I’ve been lucky enough to win this trophy a few times but every time it gets better. With the way the women’s game’s going, to win it now is a great feeling to know we beat a top team today.”
