Arsene Wenger has praised his side’s focus and determination as the race for a top-four place reaches its climax.
The Gunners have embarked on a superb eight-match unbeaten run to propel themselves into fourth spot in the Premier League with two games remaining.
Arsenal have only conceded four goals in that time, and after Saturday’s 1-0 win at QPR Wenger hailed his team’s mental fortitude in tense situations.
“We did the job, with a great level of focus,” he told Arsenal Player. “I thought it would be a very difficult game because the QPR team has quality players and played with fear [previously] but today they could play free of the chest and show pride and they did that.
“For me it was a very difficult game, I was a bit nervous beforehand. We lacked a few quality passes in the final third but had a high level of determination and concentration. We missed some passes because of the quality of the pitch and because QPR are a good team.
“We showed good concentration and in some situations where the ball was in the box, we didn't make a mistake that could have been costly. We didn’t [concede] a penalty and were calm. We have improved a lot defensively.
“We dealt well with what QPR offered us because it was a straight game, a long-ball game with Zamora, who is always up for it against us, and Remy. But the two centre backs did very well.”
