Wenger - My admiration for NextGen team

Arsene Wenger will be following Arsenal's progress in the NextGen Series this weekend - and he believes some of the young Gunners will go on to make a mark in the first team.

The under-19s are in Lake Como for finals weekend having seen off CSKA Moscow at Emirates Stadium on Monday. A solitary goal from Serge Gnabry was enough, just 19 days after Nico Yennaris scored the only goal in the last-16 victory at holders Inter Milan.

Chelsea stand between Arsenal and a place in Monday's NextGen Series final and Wenger has spotted key qualities in the Club's latest crop of young talent.

"First of all it’s strange that in the Champions League there is no English team in the quarter-finals but in the NextGen there are three in the semi-finals from England," he told Arsenal Player.

"It is amazing and unpredictable – at the start of the season you couldn’t predict that at all.

"We’ve always found the resources to do something special and that’s what I like in this team – they don’t give up, they keep going and above all there are two, three or four players who I think have a chance to play for Arsenal. That is most important."
