Ox - Setbacks brought out our hunger

This season's disappointments will bring out the best in Arsenal on Tuesday night, according to Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsene Wenger's side have found their form in recent months to challenge strongly for a Champions League place but their hopes of silverware were dashed by March after cup exits to Bradford, Blackburn and Bayern Munich.

Oxlade-Chamberlain exclusive

Oxlade-Chamberlain and his team-mates are unbeaten in nine games and the 19-year-old is backing the home side to deliver against Wigan Athletic at Emirates Stadium.

"I know from what I've seen this year that it hasn't gone great in certain competitions for us," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal Player.

"I think the disappointment in those competitions has really brought out the hunger in the rest of the boys and our team to see how much we all really do want it and the fans want it and the manager wants it.

"I've got a lot of belief and faith in my team-mates and this club to stand up and really fight for what we want. That's a Champions League spot now.

"I'm sure Wigan will be fighting for the points as well and the teams around us will but it is who wants it most. Sometimes you just have to compete.

"We're going to have to make sure we do that if we don't play so well and then it can come down to a case of pure fight and who wants it more. We've always got the quality in our side as well."
