43. Matchday traditions in the boardroom

The Highbury Boardroom

Food and flowers in the Highbury boardroom

The boardroom at Highbury is famous. It is situated above the dressing rooms and can be found by entering the marble halls, going up the stairs and turning right.

It is panelled in varnished oak and the room itself is listed.

As you might expect there are a number of traditions associated with the boardroom on matchdays.

Flowers in the colour of the visiting team have been used to adorn it and the VIP lounge since the 1920s. Also, since 1945, a roast dinner consisting of chicken or beef has been served there before every Sunday fixture.
