Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that Freddie Ljungberg is renewing his ties with the Club by taking on an ambassadorial role.

The former Sweden international will be a key figurehead in the Club’s plans for international growth. Arsenal’s head of marketing, Charles Allen, said: “We are delighted that Freddie has agreed, in this ambassadorial role, to help us reach more of our passionate supporters around the globe. He is much loved by our fans and it’s great to have him back.”

Ljungberg, who was a pivotal part of the 'Invincibles' side that went 49 league games unbeaten between 2003 and 2004, spent 10 years with the Club and helped the Gunners to two Premier League titles and three FA Cups. He was also part of the side that reached the 2006 Champions League final.

Ljungberg said: “I’m honoured to take on this ambassadorial role. The Club has a special place in my heart as everyone knows and I’m looking forward to helping the Club grow.”

Ljungberg starts with a trip to Asia next week to promote the pre-season tour. Freddie will take part in a series of fan and media events to promote the Club’s Asia 2013 summer tour in Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan.
