Olivier Giroud says playing alongside Mesut Ozil makes “everything easier”.
The Germany international made his debut for Arsenal in Saturday’s 3-1 victory at Sunderland, and took just 11 minutes to make his mark.
"I feel really good on the pitch in my relationships, especially with our new player, Mesut. There are a lot of good feelings"
Ozil claimed an assist for Giroud’s opener and the pair struck up an instant rapport on the pitch, combining superbly for Aaron Ramsey’s second goal.
“Everything is easier with this player,” Giroud told Arsenal Player. “He always plays in the right way, nothing else.
“He has a fantastic, lovely first touch so it is really easy to find each other, especially for the third goal.
“We were really happy to win after a good first half. We missed a lot of chances to score and should have had two or three goals more. Their keeper did well.
“I feel really good on the pitch in my relationships, especially with our new player, Mesut. There are a lot of good feelings.”
Arsenal travel to Marseille for the opening match of Champions League Group F on Wednesday, and Giroud expects the French side to provide a stern challenge.
“I know Marseille very well, it is a big atmosphere there and an amazing crowd,” he said. “They really love football so it will be a big game.
“I am sure we will fight as we need a first win in the Champions League to start well. We need to be strong. Even though we have a lot of injuries, we have a lot of quality and we need to win this game.”
