The Club is delighted to share the news that it was named as the ‘Away Day of the Year’ at the Football Supporters’ Federation Awards 2013 held at Emirates Stadium on Monday night.
More than 40 clubs were nominated and, in conjunction with the FSF’s Away Fan Feedback Project which is now in its second year, the organisation shortlisted six of the most consistently highly rated grounds in the country which included Cardiff City’s home Cardiff City Stadium, West Bromwich Albion’s ground The Hawthorns and The DW Stadium – Wigan Athletic’s stadium.
The Away Fan Feedback Project asks fans to rate their visits to away games across the whole spectrum of the experience – from ease of access and the area outside the stadium to the concourses, away sector and even the toilets and refreshments.
Sue Campbell and Jill Smith from the Events Team attended to accept the award on behalf of the Club.
Sue, Head of Travel, Events & Supporter Liaison at Arsenal said on collecting the award: “A vast team of staff here at Arsenal contribute to ensuring visiting supporters have an enjoyable experience when they visit Emirates Stadium on a matchday, and this is a testament to the togetherness shown in the build-up to and delivery of a matchday. As part of the ‘Arsenalisation’ project the away area is being redeveloped to allow us to continue providing a best-in-class experience for those away fans.
"While it’s wonderful to receive this award we want to acknowledge the tremendous away support we as a Club enjoy throughout the season." she added. "We invest a lot of time in making their matchday experience a positive one, with a variety of travel options to ensure the strain is taken out of the journey.
"The Club is also deducting £2.50 from every away ticket bought for the remainder of the season, so that we can reward those fans who travel away from home most regularly and gifted a £10 voucher which could be redeemed against food and drinks at Manchester City’s stadium last weekend.”
