Bould - Bayern result was the big one

Steve Bould says beating Bayern Munich has done wonders for Arsenal’s confidence as they enter the run-in to the season.

The Gunners were only the second team to beat the runaway Bundesliga leaders at the Allianz Arena this term when they won 2-0 there last month.

Since then, Arsene Wenger’s side have gone on to beat Swansea City and Reading but Bould says the turning point was losing the north London derby at Tottenham.

“We played really well on the day [against Tottenham] and we absolutely deserved more than we got,” he told Arsenal Player. “Two defensive errors and we got punished by good players - that's what happens.

“I think everybody has realised that clean sheets win games a lot of the time. We've improved.

“The big thing for us was getting that result at Bayern. I think we're more or less the only team that's won there this season so it just gives everybody a belief that we're doing alright. It was an important game for us.”

Arsenal have only conceded once in the past three games, but Bould insists results are more important than performance at this stage of the campaign.

“If we win every game 3-2 from now until the end of the season, everybody is happy and delighted,” he said. “We need to win games. That's the most important thing.”
