Ox - What we did well after the break

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain against Manchester United

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was integral to our win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Our right wing-back set up both Granit Xhaka and Danny Welbeck's goals, and spoke about the importance of the victory post-match.

Here's what he said:

on a clean sheet and three points…
It’s what we needed - we needed three points to start momentum. We had a disappointing result last week and we needed to pick it back up. Obviously it’s tough to play Manchester United. Three points was all we wanted today and I thought it was quite convincing in the end. In the second half, I thought we played really well and I thought we saw the game out well.

on what was said at half-time…
At 0-0, it gives us the best opportunity to go out and attack. We wanted to come out in the second half with more intensity and put them under pressure. I think we did that right from the start. We scored quite early on and then we controlled the game for a spell. They had a bit of the ball towards the end and we saw the game out well. After we went 2-0 up, we should be able to see the game out from there and we did that.

on restoring confidence…
It was massive. We have to win as many games as we can until the end of the season. Against a tough Manchester United side, that was never easy. It was a massive three points today and it gives us the best possible chance to go into Wednesday, get a win there and hopefully finish the season as strongly as we can.
