'It's good to score but I'm not happy'

Danny Welbeck provided a moment of true quality at Anfield on Saturday - but it wasn’t enough to bring back a point.

The England forward’s brilliant finish from Alexis’ pass revived our hopes of getting something from the game, and here’s what Danny said after the match:

on the game…
For our position in the league we want to be getting three points, so it’s frustrating that we weren’t able to do that today.

on the second half being better than the first…
We played much better football in the second half. It’s difficult to talk about this performance straight after the game.

on what did change at half-time…
The difference was that we got a goal and then we didn’t concede right until the end of the second half. That’s the major difference. With the result showing that we’ve conceded three goals at full-time and lost 3-1, it’s not a good look.

on whether he can take away positives personally…
On a personal level it’s good to get a start and a goal, but at the end of the day I’m not happy because we lost three points. That’s the most important thing.

on whether it’s good that we have a short turnaround before next game…
Yes. In a couple of days we’ve got our Champions League game so we’ve got to look forward to that now. As hard as it is, we’ve got to put this behind us and concentrate on the game ahead.
