There were plenty of positives to take from the under-23s’ 4-1 win over Chelsea on Friday.
Donyell Malen scored and set up two more, Reiss Nelson capped a lively display with an audacious goal and Danny Welbeck completed 90 minutes up front.
But perhaps our stand-out player was Rob Holding, who headed us into an early lead before setting up the second with a 40-yard run - not bad for a central defender.
“Anything is a bonus as a centre-half,” he told Arsenal Player at full-time. “I would’ve been really happy with a goal today but to get a goal and an assist is probably the best stats I’ve ever had!
“It was [a chance to get 90 minutes] for the likes of me, Danny and Carl Jenkinson. I’m happy to get the full 90 minutes and we won the game as well which was nice.
“There’s good quality in [the team]. You’ve got the likes of Reiss Nelson, Chris Willock and obviously Ainsley and Jeff were in there as well, and were solid in the midfield.
“I was playing alongside Ben Sheaf - he’s a good player, so it was easy enough.”
