This week, Carl Jenkinson spent the afternoon at Copenhagen Primary School in Islington.
Jenkinson is a 'Next 20' ambassador for 'Kick it Out', football’s equality and inclusion organisation. As part of his role, he took part in an anti-discrimination workshop at a local school. Next 20 ambassadors are a group of players across the Premier League, English Football League and Women's Super League who help spread key messages of equality and inclusion.
The workshop aimed to educate the pupils about different forms of discrimination and how to deal with it, encouraging children to report any form of discrimination.
Professional Players Engagement Manager, Paul Mortimer, leads the 'Next 20' workshops. He believes that having an inspirational figure like Carl is a great way to educate young people.
"We were delighted to work alongside Arsenal in the Community for this 'Next 20' event with our ambassador Carl Jenkinson," Paul said.
"Carl was open and honest with his thoughts and I think the students took that on board when considering their own thoughts on discrimination.
"Our ambassadors have to engage and debate on some difficult subjects, but by doing this they will ensure that future generations understand more about how equality and inclusion can affect us all."
Arsenal endeavours to ensure that everyone associated with the club feels an equal sense of belonging, through the Arsenal for Everyone initiatives undertaken in the community, inside Emirates Stadium and throughout the club.
