Takuma Asano scored his first goal for Stuttgart as they won 3-1 at Karlsruhe.

The Japanese forward broke the deadlock, before Simon Terrode made it 2-0. Moritz Stoppelkamp pulled one back from the penalty spot, before Alexandru Maxim re-established the visitors' two-goal lead to seal the win.

Jack Wilshere played the full 90 minutes of Bournemouth’s 2-0 defeat at Middlesbrough. Gaston Ramirez and Stewart Downing scored the goals for Boro, for whom Calum Chambers played the full 90 minutes before being booked in injury time.

Wojciech Szczesny played the full match and kept a clean sheet as Roma drew 0-0 at Empoli.

Joel Campbell was a 64th-minute substitute for Sporting Lisbon in their 0-0 draw at Nacional.

Jon Toral played 77 minutes and picked up a yellow card in Grenada’s 1-0 defeat to Barcelona at the Nou Camp. Rafinha scored the game’s only goal.

Dan Crowley played the full 90 minutes of Oxford United’s 2-1 loss to Millwall at the Kassam Stadium. Liam Sercombe put the hosts in front after 30 minutes, before Millwall fought back with goals from Steve Morison and Aiden O’Brien.

Kelechi Nwakali played 77 minutes as Maastricht lost 2-1 to Volendam. Daniel van Son opened the scoring for the visitors, before Alessandro Ciranni pulled MVV level. A strike from Bert Steltenpool settled the game.
