Alexis has become one of the main men for his club and country, helping Arsenal to FA Cup glory last year and leading Chile to consecutive Copa America titles.
But can he reach the level of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo? Arsene Wenger was asked that question at his press conference on Friday, and this is his reply.
“I hope Alexis can do that,” said the boss. “That’s what you want him to do, but Messi and Ronaldo have done that for years and the consistency of their performances speaks for them.
“Alexis is ambitious and is the sort of guy that wants to win every game. It is good to have that kind of ambition to be the best. He has the potential and the quality, but it is just up to him to show that.”
