Emiliano Martinez believes last season’s loan spell with Wolves provided him with a valuable education.
The Argentine goalkeeper made 15 appearances during his stay at Molineux, but says the most important lesson actually came off the pitch.
“At the beginning it was great. I was playing every game from September to the beginning of December. It was really enjoyable playing week in, week out,” he told Arsenal Player.
“Unfortunately I got a grade two injury in my quad, so it took four months to come back fit. It wasn’t a great experience, because I have never been injured before.
“I played 15 games, and it helped me learn how to look after myself. It was my first injury so I will learn from it and hopefully not get injured again.
“You need to look after yourself. When you play, you need to recover properly,” he added.
“I didn’t recover properly, because I was training too much. I was kicking too many balls, and I wasn’t used to kicking that much because at Arsenal we usually play from the back. It is still a learning experience, I’m still young. Now I know how to look after myself.”
