Lauren returned to the club on Friday to meet members of Arsenal in the Community’s mental health football session at the Arsenal Hub.
The former Cameroon international watched the group play a game of football, met with participants and posed for pictures.
He took a tour of Arsenal in the Community’s Hub, and wrote a message on the changing room wall for future users of the facility.
Lauren said of his visit: “I have always been very proud of the support that Arsenal provides to local people. Football can have a huge, positive impact on people’s lives and it is fantastic to see the difference that Arsenal in the Community are having.”
Luke Howard, Arsenal in the Community Disability Officer said: “It was brilliant to welcome Lauren to our session today. For our players to see a member of the Invincible side showing his support for what we’re doing is a big inspiration to everyone.”
Arsenal in the Community’s mental health group has been running for six years. The sessions, which are held twice a week, combine physical activity with chance to meet new people and build confidence. Support with further education and job training is provided to participants looking to get into work.
