Arsene Wenger has backed Theo Walcott to be a “positive surprise” if he is selected in the England squad for Euro 2016.
With Danny Welbeck ruled out of the tournament with a knee injury, Walcott has been tipped for a call-up by manager Roy Hodgson.
Wenger has been impressed with the 27-year-old in training, and is confident he would make a big impact this summer.
“I think he should go,” Wenger said. “He has gone through a bad spell, that is true. After the Manchester United game, he had a difficult period.
“But in the last month he has come back very strong and worked extremely hard in training. I think he could be a positive surprise.”
