Jack Wilshere spoke to the media following Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester City. This is what he had to say:
on a hard-fought draw…We lost a player early and it is tough to respond. City had a disappointing result midweek, but after going 2-1 down we showed good character to come back.
on losing Welbeck…He is an attacking player so you lose that little bit extra in the final third, so of course we missed him. It was nice for me as I got to get on the pitch, but when you lose a player of Danny’s style, you are going to miss something.
on being back…As a player, these are the games you want to be involved in. When the game started, I was watching it thinking it was high intensity and this is what I need. Lucky I got to come on and get 70-odd minutes under my belt, so I’m happy.
on facing Aston Villa next…We like to think we can win most of our home games. I don’t know what happened to Aston Villa this season, but I don’t expect them to come and just let us beat them. We said a few weeks back that we don’t want to get fourth, we don’t want to have to face a qualifier. We want to be straight in there and enjoy the season without having to play a big game beforehand.
