Pedro Martinez Losa says that integrating Arsenal Ladies in the football club is one of the most important changes he has made during his time in north London.
The manager joined the Gunners in August 2014 and helped them lift their fourth Continental Cup with a 3-0 win against Notts County in last season’s final.
Losa is targeting more silverware ahead of the new season and says that Arsenal’s increased professionalism behind the scenes will help them on the pitch too.
"We've been able to keep the core group of players to maintain our tradition, our history and values, but we've also been able to attract top players with an Arsenal identity"
“The most important change is the integration of the team inside the club’s structure and being able to train in the mornings so we are able to have lunch together,” he told Arsenal.com.
“All these little details are making the players feel like more of a part of this club and are giving them an identity. Attention to the little details is really important as well so we have a video analysts too.
“We can give individualised attention to players now so the main thing is that we’ve taken the club to another level with this professional structure. We have been able to keep the core group of players to maintain our tradition, our history and values, but the second thing is that we have been able to attract top players with an Arsenal identity.
“These are players who can give us stability but also make a difference, like Kelly Smith in the future. The third step is to maintain our youth development. We have the best Centre of Excellence in England with very talented players coming through the system.
“We have to make it possible for those talented players to be able to make it through to the first team. Us being fully professional is going to give those players a pathway, to motivate them to play for Arsenal Ladies.
“We need to play good football, educate the girls with the right principles and provide them with the right mentality so that they understand the values of the club are even more important than the results sometimes. There’s a way to win here and that’s the Arsenal way.”
