Arsenal has become the first Premier League club to reach seven million followers on Twitter.

The club has taken just over seven months to climb from six million to seven million, producing a consistent programme of engaging content for fans. This has included regular Twitter Takeovers, a weekly quiz, behind-the-scenes video footage, matchday coverage, breaking news and infographics.

By reaching this mark, @Arsenal has maintained its position as the third most followed sports team in the world on Twitter, behind Real Madrid and Barcelona.

“We are delighted to have engaged so many Arsenal fans across the world, and we’re very grateful for all their support in reaching this milestone,” said Chris Harris, managing editor (digital) of Arsenal Media Group.

“We are constantly evolving our approach to ensure that we produce content that is innovative, informative and engaging for supporters from every corner of the globe.

“We will continue to work hard to produce fresh and exciting content for our fans during the rest of the season and throughout 2016.”

In addition to @Arsenal, the club has regional accounts for the United States (@OfficialAFC_US), Spain (@OfficialAFC_ES), Indonesia (@OfficialAFC_ID) and Japan (@OfficialAFC_JP).
