Mathieu Flamini believes a key reason for Mesut Ozil’s exceptional form this season is how happy he is off the pitch.
The World Cup winner has scored three times and claimed 16 assists in the Premier League, and also won three successive Vitality Arsenal Player of the Month awards.
Flamini is Ozil’s closest friend in the squad and says the German is benefiting from the relaxed atmosphere at the club.
“We have a good time on and off the pitch,” Flamini told the Arsenal Weekly podcast. “That’s very important because, if you want to be able to perform, you have to feel happy in your head and feel confident off the pitch.
“I believe he is [happy] here and we have such a great atmosphere that it makes it very easy for him to feel comfortable.
“He’s a good laugh. We enjoy working out at the gym together in training and also talking about life, about everything. He’s a funny guy.”
