Nacho Monreal says his highlight of 2015 was scoring against Manchester United in the quarter final of the FA Cup.
The defender claimed the first goal of the game at Old Trafford before Wayne Rooney equalised. Danny Welbeck struck the deciding goal against his former club and the Gunners went on to lift the trophy for a record 12th time.
Monreal has been in fine form this season and is targeting even more silverware in 2016.
“If I had to choose [a standout moment in 2015] I would say when we played against Manchester United in the FA Cup because I have good memories from that game,” he told Arsenal Player.
“I scored my first goal of the year and I’m not a player who scores a lot. That moment when I scored was very important for me and I was completely crazy as I’m not accustomed to scoring goals. It was a really good moment because in the last few games I didn’t play so it was very important.
“It has been a good year for me individually and for the team because we have won most of the games we have played. We won the FA Cup, Community Shield and at the moment we are one or two points away from the top.
"For the next year I would like to play like I’m playing now because I’m feeling confident in myself so I would like to stay this way. Obviously [I would like to] win the Premier League or another trophy with the club because we are fighting to get there.”
