Ramsey - We took advantage of our chance

Aaron Ramsey and Petr Cech spoke to the media after Arsenal's win at Aston Villa. Here's what they said.

Ramsey on the importance of the win…
Yeah it was really important to finish off a good week for us. We did the job today. We took advantage of the possibility of going top of the league again so we’re delighted with that.

Cech on if Arsenal were always in control…
I think we were in control, although it’s always difficult when you have a great performance in midweek and have to switch back to the Premier League. I think we’ve done really well today to be focused and resilient at the back. We got the clean sheet and the goals we needed. They came back in the second half but I thought that overall we controlled the game to get the three points.

Ramsey on the beauty of Arsenal’s second goal…
It was nice to be there to finish the move. It was a great move from us. We saw them losing [the ball] as an opportunity to get forward and it was a great ball by Theo in the first place. Then the vision of Ozil to play me in for a simple tap in was delightful as well. I’m delighted that I could finish it off.

Ramsey on starting the move with a good tackle…
Yeah, that’s part of the job in the middle - to win tackles as well. I’m delighted with how I started it.

Cech on equaling the Premier League clean sheet record…
Of course [I’m proud]. I hope that it will continue to grow and hope it will help us to stay top of the league and to have a chance to fight for the title. That would be absolutely magnificent. I’m delighted to have equaled the record but I’m more delighted with the three points.

Ramsey on the belief in the squad that Arsenal can challenge for the title…
Of course we believe that we have an opportunity. We’ve shown so far what we are capable of doing and we just have to continue what we’re doing now. This is a busy part of the season so we have to maintain our focus and belief, get through this period and who knows what can happen in the second half. We know that we can challenge for trophies and we’ll be up for it as well.
