Cech - Focus was the key for this win

Petr Cech says the Arsenal squad are “proud” of their hard-fought victory over Everton on Saturday evening.

Arsène Wenger’s side moved to the top of the Premier League after first-half goals from Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny secured an important three points at Emirates Stadium.

The win was Arsenal’s third in the space of a week, and Cech was particularly happy with how the team refocused from Tuesday’s success over Bayern Munich.

"I’m pleased with the way I’m contributing to the team and I made another important save against Everton"

“It’s a brilliant victory,” the goalkeeper told Arsenal Player. “When you have a week of important games, you come back after internationals and the away game is always tricky.

“We managed to do really well and got a great result at Watford. Then you have a must-win game in midweek and you manage to do that in some style, and I think the hardest part is always to refocus and return to the Premier League.

“You have to deliver again and sometimes that’s very hard to do, and we did a remarkably good job.

“We’re proud of the three points we got and the way we played against a very good Everton side.”

Cech has impressed since joining form Chelsea in the summer, and made a crucial save from Gerard Deulofeu late on.

“I’m pleased with the way I’m contributing to the team and I made another important save against Everton,” he added. “Everybody has been playing really well so they deserved a little bit of help from me as well.

“We are pleased with the start to the season. So far, so good. You want to be there in the mix from the start to the end.

“Since the season started we’ve been there so we’ll try to stay there as long as possible.”
