Loan Watch: Akpom and Toral score

Jon Toral scored the winner as Birmingham beat Reading 2-1. David Cotterill opened the scoring before Toral converted Clayton Donaldson’s pass. Nick Blackman pulled one back on the hour mark but Birmingham held out to secure all three points.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles played 82 minutes of Ipswich’s 2-2 draw at Brentford. Kevin Bru and Ryan Fraser gave Ipswich a two-goal lead but Andre Gray and James Tarkowski struck in injury time to salvage a point for Brentford.

Daniel Crowley claimed an assist in Barnsley’s 3-1 defeat at Chesterfield. The teenager put Conor Wilkinson through to give Barnsley the lead but James O’Shea, Sylvain Ebanks-Blake and Sam Morsy scored to complete Chesterfield’s comeback.
