“It was disappointing to lose the Continental Cup final last year so we will be looking to get back there this season,” she said.

“Personally it really hurt to miss out on winning the competition last year so we’ll be looking to put it right.

”We want to win every competition at Arsenal, that’s the nature of the club, but every team will want to beat us and Watford will be no different.”

Scott was part of the England squad which finished third at this summer’s World Cup and she has stressed the importance of ensuring the legacy lives on.

“It was an unbelievable eight weeks and certainly one of the best World Cups I have experienced, even though I didn’t play as much as the previous ones,” she said.

“It didn’t matter if you weren’t a starter and I was so pleased for the girls that we did so well. It’s important now that we build on the success. We need to make sure the record attendances we achieved immediately afterwards don’t become a one-off.”
