'We want our fans to be full of hope'

Arsene Wenger is confident Arsenal can give their fans hope for next season with a positive performance against West Bromwich Albion.

The Gunners have been the league’s form side since the turn of the year but have not won since their 3-1 victory against Hull City at the start of May.

Arsenal have failed to score in their last three home games but Wenger believes a strong display on Sunday will reassure supporters and confirm a top-three finish.

"We have fought very hard to directly qualify for the Champions League and we want to get over the line and finish the job"

“It’s a big warning because we have a home game and we want to finish the job,” the manager said. “We want to finish on a high at the Emirates and we want our fans to go home happy, full of hope for next season.

“We have fought very hard to directly qualify for the Champions League and we want to get over the line and finish the job, which we couldn’t do on Wednesday night [against Sunderland]. We want to do it in a convincing way on Sunday.

“Will I rest one or two players? Certainly. What is most important for me is for us to win the game on Sunday. We have enough experience in our dressing room to know that what is important is the next competition.”

One more point will guarantee a third-place finish - Arsenal’s highest position for three seasons - and Wenger has revealed his favourite moment from a memorable

season.

“For us, maybe it was when we won the big game away from home at Manchester City,” he said. “It was an important moment. Also the good performance we had against Liverpool at home. Overall I must say the continuity we have shown since January [has been positive].”
