Ozil - The secret to our success

Mesut Ozil says forcing Hull City into early errors was a key factor behind Arsenal’s “outstanding” display on Monday night.

The Gunners raced into a three-goal lead at the KC Stadium after a brace from Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey’s well-taken strike.

Stephen Quinn pulled one back for the hosts after the interval, but Arsene Wenger’s side still ran out comfortable winners.

"We disrupted their play really early on and that forced their mistakes"

“We played outstanding football, especially in the first half,” Ozil told Arsenal Player. “We really deserved to be 3-0 up and as I mentioned, in the first half our performance was top class. Hull City didn’t have a chance.

“We disrupted their play really early on and that forced their mistakes. Alexis made the game easier for us with his goals. We had more space as a result and they had to become more open.

“We know that one of our strengths is on the break because we have some really fast attacking players and I want to praise the team again for that.

“In the second half, we wanted to hold the result and conceded a goal. But ultimately we’re really happy with the result.

“We had many opportunities and maybe we should have won by more goals but the main thing is the three points and now we’ll turn our focus to the next game.”
