Arsene Wenger says Olivier Giroud is in the best form of his career and could end up as one of Arsenal's all-time top scorers.
The France striker has the best goal-to-minute ratio from open play in the Premier League, scoring 17 times in 22 appearances this season.
Giroud now has 57 goals for Arsenal, and Wenger says the sky is the limit for the 28-year-old.
"I wish him well and that he maintains this record first. After that, we’ll see how far he can go"
“He has been in outstanding form since he came back,” the manager said. “He has improved the quality of his game and we have plenty of strikers.
“I believe that the target of everybody when you wake up in the morning is to be better, to make sure that at night you are better than the day before.
“That’s the essence of our job, to make sure that you improve every day. If you’re not capable of thinking like that, you’re in the wrong job. He has accepted that and he has the right focus every day to improve.
“[Beating second top scorer Ian Wright’s tally] will be difficult. Wright and [Thierry] Henry are quite high up there so there’s a long way to go.
“Olivier arrived a bit late as well but I wish him well and that he maintains this record first. After that, we’ll see how far he can go.”
