Arsene Wenger hopes Francis Coquelin is “rewarded” for his energy and application by making a big future for himself at the club.
The 23-year-old has made a positive impression since returning to Arsenal from a loan spell at Championship side Charlton Athletic.
The French midfielder is likely to feature again as the Gunners take on Hull City in the FA Cup third round on Sunday, and Wenger is pleased to see him taking his chance to shine.
"He kept his focus, worked very hard and I hope he will be rewarded for that"
“I want him to have a future here,” the manager told the official matchday programme. “It’s always very difficult, because you want to have a big squad.
“But when you have a big squad, it means that many players are not playing and all the players who are not playing are impatient, frustrated and want to play.
“He is one of the players who has gone through difficult times, but he kept his focus, worked very hard and I hope he will be rewarded for that.”
