Scott - I’m proud of women’s football

Alex Scott playing for England Ladies at Wembley

Alex Scott believes women’s football is on the rise in England - and she could not be more proud.

The Arsenal Ladies captain was one of three Gunners to play for the Three Lions against Germany in front of more than 45,000 fans at Wembley Stadium.

"The support for the women’s game in this country is improving all the time"

Despite losing 3-0, Scott remained positive and explained how the record-breaking attendance for their first appearance at the national stadium reflected the sport’s progression in England.

“Playing at Wembley was massive,” the right back told Arsenal.com. “The support for the women’s game in this country is improving all the time. We’re just happy for the support that we got and it’s just a shame that we couldn’t give them a result that they wanted to see.

“The build up for the whole week has been fantastic. It just shows how far we’ve come as a team. At the moment it doesn’t feel the best but it’s something to look back on as a memory that I’ll always have.”
