Arteta - Every mistake is costing us

Mikel Arteta spoke to Arsenal Player after the Manchester United game. Read on for a transcript of the interview:

on the performance…
I am still shocked. I can’t believe we lost this game. The way we played, the number of chances we had, the number of attacking situations we had, the quality of our game, everything. Up to the goal there was only one team on the pitch and that was us. We were very unlucky the way we conceded the goal and obviously afterwards they had the quality up front. We took more risks to get back into the game and they took the second goal very well. Overall I don’t think we could have asked much more from our performance.

on how much comes down to bad luck…
I don’t know, I have to see the situations again as I haven’t seen them. We had clear-cut chances in the first half and a few more in the second half. The number of [things we did] really well today… we won the ball back very early, we were compact playing around them, we were very dynamic and aggressive when we were defending. I don’t think it’s fair. I feel sorry because I don’t think the result is fair and we need belief and we needed a big win today to repay the players and the fans - the atmosphere they created for 90 minutes [was great]. We are very down for them as well because they were terrific again today and we tried our best, and it didn’t go for us.

on the future…
We need to analyse why those things are happening and also we need to be sure that a lot of the things we are doing are right. We can't now completely change our game because we haven’t won. As the manager said a few weeks ago, we are doing 99 per cent of the things right and every time that we make a little mistake it seems to cost us a point or a defeat. It’s always something so we need to bounce back. We have another massive game against Dortmund on Wednesday - let’s go for it.
