Wojciech Szczesny believes the international break came at the right time for Arsenal.
Arsene Wenger's side had won three games in a row before letting leads slip against Anderlecht and Swansea City at the start of November.
Szczesny says Arsenal are determined to get back on track when they face Manchester United at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
"Hopefully this will be a step. It could give us a big push to go and challenge for the rest of the season"
"The international break probably came at a good time for us, because we needed one," he told Arsenal Player. "We've come back, everyone is in a good mood and we're looking forward to a big game on Saturday. It's a big one for us.
"Whoever you come up against in the Premier League looks forward to the game. Every team plays attacking football and wants to get the three points. No team really comes to defend.
"It's always exciting and with the quality of the players in both teams and with both teams really fighting to get three points it should be a very exciting game.
"Our history against Manchester United recently hasn't been very good. We didn't score a single goal against them last season, so that's something that we're looking to improve.
"Hopefully this will be a step. It could give us a big push to go and challenge for the rest of the season."
