Mikel Arteta says Calum Chambers’ outstanding form since joining the club is down to his innate bravery and self-confidence.
The young defender claimed the first senior goal of his career in Saturday’s 3-0 win against Burnley, and also supplied the cross for Alexis Sanchez’s opener.
Arteta is a big admirer of the 19-year-old and says that his mature performances have won the respect of all of his new team-mates.
“Calum has made a very strong start at the club and I put that down to his character and his bravery,” the captain told the official matchday programme.
“I think that is very important when you come to a club like Arsenal as a young player.
“He is not scared, he wants to play and he’s very confident about himself and also trusted by his team-mates. I am very pleased with his contribution so far.”
