Dan Crowley in action against Anderlecht

Dan Crowley spoke to the media after Arsenal Under-19s lost 4-3 against Anderlecht in the Uefa Youth League. Read a full transcript of what he had to say below:

on the match...
They were a good side who were very quick and very strong. It was nice to get a hat-trick to add to the collection but we should have won. We needed to win because we came here to win, not [just] to get a hat-trick, so we’re very disappointed.

on how difficult it was to recover from going a goal down…
We didn’t start quickly enough. They started very well and that was the main problem. If we’d have started as quickly as them then I think the score would have been different at the end.

on difficult conditions…
It was hard to play in torrential rain but we can’t blame anything but ourselves. We’ve just got to move onto the next game.

on his performance…
I don’t think I played well enough. I wasn’t very good but it’s always nice to get a hat-trick. I thought I should have kept the ball better.

on what the coaches said…
We didn’t start quickly enough, we weren’t as aggressive as they were and we didn’t pass the ball quickly enough.

on whether he’s confident about getting past the group stage…
It’s not bad but we’re not where we think we should be. We thought we could have got a win here but we didn’t play well enough, so we’ve just got to move onto the home tie and we need to win.

on what Arsenal need to change in two weeks' time…
We have to start quicker, we weren’t as aggressive as they were, we didn’t pass the ball quickly enough. Our all-round performance has to be better.
