Boss on tactics, Chambers, Keane, Villa

Arsène Wenger faced the media ahead of the Aston Villa game. Here are some extra quotes from his press conference. For more headlines, visit our Digest page:

on his tactical set-up…
It's difficult for me to explain all the tactical changes but not a lot has changed. We failed in some big games last year and behind that is the thinking that we have to be more solid in some games. We conceded too many goals in the big games last year.

We have to find a balance. Look, I added a striker with Sanchez. We have another striker [in] Welbeck. We have a lot of offensive players, with Ozil, Wilshere and Ramsey - and even Arteta when he plays is initially an offensive player. To find the balance we have as well to defend and I think we have to find a balance between attacking and defending. That's why it's not an easy subject.

on Calum Chambers…
I like his attitude, I like his intelligence and I like the fact that he came into the team with a good resistance to the pressure and just played his game. I am very impressed by him.

on Roy Keane becoming an assistant after managing…
You find your place where you're happy and that's the most important thing in life. If he's happy there, why not? He's in football - he's involved without maybe being always questioned about everything. He can have a positive influence. They have played four games but he can of course have a positive influence.

on Villa's young team showing quality…
They had good spells, always. I remember they came to the Emirates last year and they played very well and beat us. He's a guy who has a big experience now and he's starting to build a very solid team.
